Paul Ainsworth

Falcon Equine Feeds

Meet the Team

Paul Ainsworth - Company Director/Owner
Paul was brought up with horses, helping run the family riding school while competing horses on the national circuit. Unable to afford 'ready-made' horses Paul made the best of other peoples 'un-ridable cast-off's' and retrained them to achieve many great results including:

1st Everest Double Glazing Young Riders Championship 1987 at Hickstead

1st Young Rider Championship of Great Britain 1987 at Hickstead

Paul was forced to give up competitive riding due to injury therefore needing a change of career. He started an Agricultural Contracting Company giving him vast knowledge of crops and ingredients. This then led to the start of Falcon Equine Feeds with the desire to bring the best nutrition possible to the equine world. Paul is continuously researching and works with a top independent nutritionist to design specific quality designed diets for all equines. Other specific research has been aimed at reducing and preventing skeletal and tendon injuries due to everyday wear and tear and sporting strains which has resulted in the launch of Joint Elements

Sarah Ainsworth - Financial Director/Owner
Sarah competed ponies from the age of 12 producing 2 ponies from novice to JA. After school she started training with many different Showjumpers to gain experience, Lionel Dunning in 1988 then to Andy and Anna Austin. She then started riding young horses for owners at her own yard while being trained by William Funnell, successfully bringing horses through the novice grades to sell on. Sarah then broke her pelvis and hip in a fall which put her out of action for a while. Whilst recovering she was international groom for William which gave her a great insight into more serious competition and particularly the demand put on horses at that level and gained great experience watching and learning from all the different riders around Europe. Sarah and Paul met in 1997 around the time Paul stopped competing and started the company with him, she is always behind the scenes looking after the financial side of the business and running it along side Paul.

Julie Challinor - Operations Manager/Customer Relations Manager
Julie's interest with horses started at the age of 5, by the age of 16 she had saved enough money to buy her own horse and start pursuing a showjumping career. At the age of 18 after a fractured neck injury Julie had to turn her skills into a different career and worked her way up in a warehouse from the bottom to become manager and great team leader. Julie then took time out to raise 3 beautiful children and 2 years ago armed herself with some new qualifications to find herself a role in the 2 industries she is skilled in. With Julies Equine knowledge and logistics experience she makes sure that all runs smoothly at Falcon Equine Feeds headquarters.

Stephanie Lancaster - Nutritional Advisor
Steph has been around horses all her life prompting her to follow her passion and gain a career in the equine industry. On leaving school she studied a 2 year National Diploma in horse management & 2 year Foundation Certificate in equine studies specialising in nutrition. Steph lost confidence in riding horses so turned to stud work which she found very rewarding and great experience gaining a more practical understanding of horses nutritional needs and still has a keen interest in Show Jumping and Breeding. Steph is responsible for making sure all our clients are happy and have the products they require to keep their horses happy and healthy.

Gary Humphrey - Warehouse and Production Specialist

Gary has been with Falcon since 2006 and has played a key part in Falcon's development. Gary is great at problem solving and makes sure that all keeps going behind the scenes! Gary is a great asset and continues to support Paul in all the projects that he develops.

Sam Daniels - Delivering the Feed

Sam has been predominantly involved in the racing industry before joining Falcon in 2011, he attended British Racing School in 2001 and rode in many races his career highlight was riding 'Noddies Way' at the 2006 Derby Meeting in Epsom and riding on Grand National day. In his spare time he rides for local point to point trainers and race horse trainers in Newmarket and also enjoys hunting as his hobby. Sam delivers feed locally in the Falcon van and also does a great job at the Hickstead meetings delivering feed and shavings around the stable field, he has had very positive feedback for his reliability and helpfulness.

Q: How will my order be delivered?

A: The method of delivery is dependant on how many items you have ordered and what the total weight is.

If you order;

1-9 (20kg or 25kg each) bags of feed - the order will be delivered in 1-9 individual parcels using FedEx. These will need to be signed for on delivery unless you have left clear instructions for where the items can be left and that no signature is required.

These orders will be delivered in a van and there are usually no access problems. Please do let us know if you are aware of delivery companies having problems with access to your property.

Over 9 bags of feed (any weight) – The order will normally be delivered on a pallet. The pallet measures 1mX1.2mX2.2m maximum. The height of the pallet depends on the number of bags ordered. The pallet will be delivered by a pallet distribution company in a 7.5T lorry. The lorry will come equipped with a tail lift to unload the pallet BUT if you drive is made of gravel, small chippings, loose soil, mud or surface other than a solid, hard flat surface, the drive will be unable to move the pallet further than the back of the lorry. If the driveway surface is tarmac, concrete etc. then they will be able to move the pallet to a suitable place to be left.

If you have a narrow driveway or a very tight corner the lorry will not be able to drive up it. You need to make sure you have clearly written this on the ‘notes’ section of the checkout page. We will then contact you and try to help arrange a different method of delivery where possible.

Please remember it is not the driver’s responsibility to unload the feed bag by bag into your feed room.
